A York County man ended up wrestling a deer that smashed through a supermarket window and was headed toward the bakery section.
Robert Beck III and his wife were shopping for cold medicine and Gatorade in a Giant store just outside of Manchester when they heard a loud bang and screams just after 9 p.m. Monday, PennLive reported.
“When I seen it, it was ‘Game on,’ ” said Beck, of Conewago Township. The animal had bolted into fruits and vegetables.
Photos on ydr.com, which ran the original story, show Beck, a hunter, holding the animal’s feet in the air as the doe lay on the ground near a display of sunglasses.
Beck was able to get the deer to her feet and was leading it from the store when the animal became spooked by other customers, squirmed away, and kicked Beck, knocking him to the ground.
A couple of other customers pitched in and were able to get the doe out of the store.
Last seen, the deer was headed in the direction of a Starbucks.
