All deer hunting days still-hunt only except where noted.

DEER/MODERN FIREARMS: Through Jan. 1, State Deer Area 7, with/without dogs, bucks only except “doe” days Jan. 1.

RAILS & GALLINULES: Through Jan. 4, statewide. Includes king, clapper, sore & Virginia rails.

DEER/MODERN FIREARMS: Through Jan. 8, State Deer Area 1, with/without dogs, either sex deer take allowed.

DEER/MODERN FIREARMS: Through Jan. 8, State Deer Area 3, either sex deer take allowed.

DEER/MODERN FIREARMS: Through Jan. 8, State Deer Area 4, with/without dogs, bucks only except “doe” days Jan. 7-8.

DUCKS/COASTAL & WEST ZONES: Through Jan. 22, second split.

DEER/MODERN FIREARMS: Through Jan. 22, State Deer areas 5 & 9, with/without dogs, bucks only except “doe” days Jan. 1, Jan. 14-15.

DEER/MODERN FIREARMS: Through Jan. 22, State Deer Area 6, with/without dogs, either sex deer take allowed.

DUCKS/EAST ZONE: Through Jan. 29, second split.

CANADA GEESE: Through Jan. 31, statewide, second split.

WOODCOCK: Through Jan. 31, statewide.

DEER/ARCHERY SEASON: Through Jan. 31. State Deer Areas 1, 2, 4 & 7. (Areas 4 & 7 hunters allowed to take either sex deer except when a bucks-only firearms season in progress.)

GEESE: Through Feb. 12, statewide, second split, all species except Canada geese.

DEER/ARCHERY SEASON: Through Feb. 15. State Deer Areas 5, 6 & 9 either sex deer allowed except when a bucks-only firearms season in progress.

SQUIRRELS/RABBITS: Through Feb. 28, statewide private lands. See Louisiana Hunting Pamphlet for public lands dates.

QUAIL & SNIPE: Through Feb. 28, statewide.

FISHING/SHRIMPING

OPEN SEASON: Greater amberjack season opens Jan. 1.

CLOSED SEASONS: Recreational red snapper in state & federal waters. Recreational gray triggerfish closed in state and federal waters throughout 2017.

FALL INSHORE SHRIMP SEASON: Closed in all state inside waters except in most waters. Effective sunset Monday, Jan. 2 closed in state outside waters from Caillou Boca west to Freshwater Bayou. Remains open in Lake Pontchartrain, Chef Menteur/Rigolets, Lake Borgne, Mississippi Sound, the MRGO, a portion of the Intracoastal Waterway in Orleans Parish (East Closure Sector gate west to intersection Inner Harbor Navigation Canal) and Breton and Chandeleur sounds.
