Want to know more about the art of fly fishing?

Yes, it’s an art because this adventure will take an angler from choice of tackle to the basics of the presentation to creating any number of can’t-miss lures.

And the adventure means more in south Louisiana than it does in most any other location around the country.

It means more than picking out a favorite poppin’ bug for a bream fishing trip or something like the old Peck’s Popper to lure a strike from an aggressive largemouth bass.

Around here, fly fishing eventually leads to a trip to the coast for speckled trout, or taking along heavier tackle to battle a brute of a redfish.

Another plus is south Louisiana is home to fly-fishing experts in a growing number of clubs, and this list can be a ticket to a next grand fishing adventure, followed by 2017’s major fly-fishing events:
